With so many netbook offerings out now, how do you know which one is the right one for you? Read on as I share with you guys my buying tips in order to help land the right netbook without going insane at the same time.
The Design Can Make A World of Difference
I’m not referring to its aesthetics, but rather, on its ergonomics. With most, if not all, netbooks coming with identical features, its design will set it apart from the rest of the pack. In the early batch of netbooks, the HP Mini-Note 2133 stood out as one of the best as far as keyboard design is concerned, but with more models out now and other companies figuring out that smaller isn’t better when it comes to keyboards, you’ve now got a lot to choose from. Just remember to try it out first and get a feel of its over-all ergonomics to find out whether it’s easy to use or not.
Longer is Better
Don’t get any strange ideas here, I’m talking about battery life. Majority of the netbooks I’ve seen come with a 3-cell battery, but if you chance upon a netbook that already comes with a 6-cell battery, go for it. It’ll be more expensive, but the investment is worth it as you’ll have more juice to burn when you’re on the road.
Other netbooks will boast of having 3G and Bluetooth connectivity, and while it maybe cool to have these, ask yourself; do you really need it? The inclusion of these features will jack up its price. So, if you’re on a strict budget, it might be better to find a similar model sans the added connectivity features.
The Internet is Your Friend
Do your research online. While netbooks do come with similar features, they still vary in over-all performance. Visit sites like Notebook Review and Laptop Mag to view performance comparisons of some of the more well known netbooks out now to help you narrow down your choices to the best performing ones.
Your budget will definitely play a key role in the selection process so canvass first before making a final decision. You’ll be surprised at how competitive the market is right now offering you a wide selection of netbooks to choose from at very reasonable prices. If money is not an issue and you find one that suits your taste but is priced somewhere near the P30K mark already, better start thinking if its a netbook you really need as some lower-end laptops can be had at this price point already.
Last, but certainly not the least, Be Patient. If you don’t find a netbook that’s to your liking, don’t be discouraged as I’m sure, there’s a better one that will be released in the not-so-distant future. Likewise, if it’s currently way out of your budget, just wait for several months to pass by and I’m sure its price will definitely go down.
