iPhone GrooveMaker app: Groove to your own beat

IK Multimedia has already released their GrooveMaker app for the iPhone/iPod Touch, and I must admit, after doing a review of it for PMPToday, they’ve got quite an impressive nifty little app here.

GrooveMaker for the iPhone/iPod Touch

The full review can be found here, but if you’d like to try it out rather than just read about it, you can download the free basic pack which comes with 1 song and 125 loops (iTunes link).

Here are some of the good points about GrooveMaker:

  • wide selection of loops available
  • 8 stereo tracks can be played simultaneously giving you a variety of ways to customize your mix
  • fast and snappy
  • you can export your work via WiFi as a WAV file so that it can be save to a PC/Mac

Here’s the not-so-good part about it:

  • you’re only limited to mixing only the songs provided in each pack, you can’t import songs
  • you can’t save songs for use with other GrooveMaker packs

Nonetheless, overall, it’s really a well-designed app that provides you with an array of tools that will help you get started in mixing your own beats. It’s not perfect, but it’s a darn pretty good one as their first iPhone app offering.
