It looks like Nokia’s bringing back to popularity the Xpress-On covers which was a huge hit in the ’90s. Thanks to the Supernova series and some added variation to the timeless accessory, Nokia might have a new best-seller here for fashionistas and the like.
The 7610 Supernova is a slider that comes with a 3.2-megapixel camera with dual LED flash, instant messaging and TV-out functionality. It also packs in a bevy of multimedia features such as dedicated music keys, mp3 player and an FM radio. Xpress-On covers for this phone will include a choice of a ‘steel blue’ and ‘red’ covers offset by a muted gray front surface, or ‘bright lilac’ and ‘steel blue’ contrasted against a pristine white front surface. It’s slated to be released in the 3rd Quarter of 2008.
The 7510, on the other hand, is a clamshell phone that comes with a push-to-open side key for that flashy single hand operation. It likewise features a large 2.2-inch QVGA display, 2-megapixel camera with LED flash, Nokia Maps 1.2, A-GPS, FM radio, an enhanced mp3 player, and a new Nokia web browser that provides easy access to the various online services of the company such as Nokia Search, and Share on OVI. It will be available with Xpress-On front and back covers in ‘storm blue’, ‘red’, ‘emerald green’ and ‘espresso brown’. The 7510 is expected in the last quarter of this year.
The 7310 Supernova is a slim and sleek phone that comes with a 2-megpaixel camera, FM RDS radio, an enhanced mp3 player, and TV-out. What’s interesting with this phone is its Xpress-On cover options. The package will include an etched 3D textured design in `steel blue’ plus a secondary front and back cover in `wasabi green’ or `candy pink’. Other colored options will be available as well. This baby is slated for a 2nd quarter release.
Last, but not the least, the 7210 Supernova, is another slim beauty that exudes sophistication with its glossy finish. It features a 2-megapixel camera and quick access to Flickr for easy sharing of photos online. It’ll become available during the 3rd quarter of 2008 with your choice of either ‘bubble gum pink’ or ‘vivid blue’.
Though the names may be recycled, make no mistake that this new line is totally different from its namesake ancestors. Slim, well-featured, and easily customizable; Nokia brings back Xpress-On cover fashion into the 21st Century.
