If you’ve been wanting to buy an HTC phone, you might be interested to know that HTC Philippines is now having a Trade to Upgrade promo.

Got this bit of news from the Windows Mobile Community. Just trade in a working/non-working PDA/PDA Phone and you can avail of a P10,000 discount when you pay cash for the HTC Touch HD or Touch Pro. Trade-in a working mobile phone (charger included) and you’ll receive a P5,000 discount on the HTC Touch 3G or HTC Touch Viva. Other working electronic gadgets such as MP3 player/ Digital Camera (Unit/Charger/Battery) may also considered, but I’m not sure how much discount you can get for it. Customers must present a valid I.D to avail of the promo so as to avoid fraud or theft accusations for traded gadgets. This is an on-going promo that will last until March 31, 2009.

Two new Nokia phones that are definitely on my to-watch-out-for list are the 8-megapixel N86 and slim E55 smartphone.

The dual-slide N86 is Nokia’s first 8-megapixel phone and boasts of a Carl Zeiss Teslar lens with dual-LED flash, a brilliant 2.6-inch OLED display, HSDPA connectiviy, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, TV-out, 3.5mm headphone jack, and 8GB of internal memory that can be expanded via microSD card. It runs on the S60 3rd Edition FP 2 OS and features a kickstand like the N96 for easy hands-free video viewing. It’s expected to become available in Q2 of this year though its price is yet to be known.

The slim E55, meanwhile, looks to follow in the footsteps of the successful E51 by offering a full-featured device in an ultra-slim form factor. It comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA display, 3.2-megapixel camera, compact QWERTY keypad (SureType), HSDPA connectivity, WiFi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, N-Gage support, 3.5mm headphone jack, 60MB internal memory expandable via microSD card, and a 1500 mAh battery that can reportedly last up to 28 days on standby. It measures in at 9.9mm in thickness and weighs just 54cc making it truly one of the thinnest and lightest smartphones in the market today. No word yet on its pricing, but hopefully, it will also be as affordable as the E51.
I’ll keep you guys posted once I receive word on when these beauties will exactly become available in the local market.
